2020

Three artists in exile focuses on the historical diaspora provoked by the Spanish civil war (1936- 1939), and how it influenced three prominent figures of the cultural scene of that period: the writer and typographer Max Aub Mohrenwitz (Paris, 1903-Ciudad de Mexico, 1972); the architect Félix Candela Outeriño (Madrid, 1910-Raleigh, US, 1977); and the artist Josep Renau Berenguer (Valencia, 1907-Berlín, 1982). They are the three protagonists of this article, who were simultaneously living in Mexico during the exile and who made notable contributions in the fields of arts and humanities (Max Aub), architecture (Félix Candela), and graphic design and photomontage (Josep Renau). Piłsudczycy w Wielkiej Brytanii wobec władz RP w okresie II wojny światowej w świetle „Listów z Londynu” (1942–1945)

2021

2003

On the performance of the Spanish teachers that accompanied the so called «Children of Morelia» expedition, the specialists that have dealt with the topic so far have made a severe negative judgment. In this work we bring to light, for the first time and through unpublished documentation, the repeated initiatives that these teachers took to try to complete their guardian mission, which could not be carried out completely due to the position of the Mexican authorities.

2017

Ihe article is dcvoted to writers who after emigrating decided to change the language in which they wrote their books from their native language to the language of the country which became their second home. The strategies which are described in the article are determined by the personal experiences of the writers, for whom the choice of a second language in which their works were to be written became an opportunity to express various attitudes. Piotr Rawicz, a Jew of Polish origin, treated his literary debut - the novel Le sang du ciel, written in French - as an autobiography, which was expressed not in a direct manner but in a manncr based on intermediation of both the complex narrative d…

2015

The followers of the Negritude accustomed us to the confrontation between Africa and Europe through the staging of a character-dreaming of Europe with stereotyped images of France conveyed by the colonial school-who is confronted with the conditions of exile during his stay in Europe and the remoteness of motherland which bears all his aspirations. But for the writers of Migritude, emigration to Europe takes a different turn; it is no longer motivated by a desire for discovery but an escape from the native land which has become repulsive, while Europe is in the eyes of migrants, an attractive place embellished by the stories of immigrants who, have already made the journey. The present rese…

Satyra na Augusta Zaleskiego, czyli o sporze Wojciecha Wasiutyńskiego z "Syreną" paryską

2017

In 1949 the Parisian weekly Syrena published an anonymous satire on President August Zaleski. As it later turned out, it was written by Wojciech Wasiutyński, a well-known journalist and activist of the Stronnictwo Narodowe (National Party). Wasiutyński was not informed about the decision to publish his text and was outraged, demanding compensation. The editorial team explained that the anonymous copies of the satire had circulated among Polish immigrants. The issue echoed a far more significant debate concerning the office of the President of Poland in exile.

L’attesa come condizione esistenziale: SAID Landschaften einer fernen Mutter, 2001 e Marjane Satrapi Persepolis, 2007

2018

In this paper the author intends to analyze the concept of ‘waiting time’ that, in a different way, also seen the substantial artistic diversity, is present in the film Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, 2007, based on the namesake graphic novel written by the French-Iranian director in 2000, and in the novel Landschaften einer fernen Mutter written by the German-Iranian author SAID, 2001. The analysis that is conducted here wants to investigate how both, in the film and in the literary work, the ‘waiting time’ for the exile takes on totally personal connotations, becoming also not only part of the life of Satrapi and SAID, but above all a state of mind.
